Greece Visa Application  Requirements

 

Here’s a brief summary of the requirements for applying to Greece visas, for Student Visa (long stay), Visitor / Tourist Visa (short‑stay / Schengen C‑visa), and Business Visa. Actual required documents may vary by your country and Greek consulate, so always verify locally.

1. Student Visa (Long‑Stay, non‑EU citizens)

  • Apply for a National Visa Type D for studies before arrival at Greek Embassy / Consulate.

  • Have an acceptance letter from a Greek higher‑education institution recognised by the Hellenic Ministry of Education. 

  • Valid passport: at least 2 blank pages, issued within past 10 years, valid for a period extending 3 months beyond the visa end date. 

  • Completed visa application form; recent passport‑size photo. 

  • Criminal record / police clearance certificate. 

  • Proof of sufficient financial resources to cover your tuition, living expenses, and stay. 

  • Proof of accommodation in Greece. 

  • Health insurance or medical coverage, sometimes specific vaccinations or health clearance may be required.

  • Apply well in advance (often 8‑12 weeks before program begins). 

  • After arrival: obtain a residence permit for studies. 

2. Visitor / Tourist Visa (Short‑Stay Schengen Visa, up to 90 days)

  • Valid passport: issued within last 10 years, with at least two blank pages, valid at least 3 months after planned departure from Schengen area. 

  • Proof of travel itinerary: round‑trip flight reservation or onward travel. 

  • Proof of accommodation (hotel bookings, invitation letter, etc.). 

  • Proof of sufficient financial means for duration of stay. 

  • Travel medical insurance covering emergencies, sickness, repatriation.

  • Visa fee (≈ €180 for adults, less for children depending on age) plus any service / handling fees. 

  • Submit application at your Greek embassy/consulate or visa application centre; at least 15 days before travel, but can be as early as 6 months before.

3. Business Visa (Short‑Stay / Schengen, for Business Visitors)

  • All standard short‑stay Schengen visa documents as for tourist visa (passport, photos, form, travel & insurance, etc.). 

  • Invitation letter from the Greek company you will visit, with company details, dates of visit. 

  • A letter from your employer (or sponsoring organisation) stating the purpose of trip, confirming employment, and/or confirming who will cover travel & accommodation expenses. 

  • If applicable, proof of prior business relations between the two companies (contracts, past correspondence, etc.). 

  • Business bank statements (often past 3‑6 months) or financial proof to show ability to cover expenses during stay. 

  • Documents related to your company’s legal status (trade license, company registration, articles / memorandum of association, etc.), particularly if you are representing a business.
