Sweden Visa Application Requirements

 

Here are the important Sweden Schengen Visa application requirements for the following visa types: Student, Business, and Tourist/Visitor Visa (valid for short stays up to 90 days).

General Requirements for All Sweden Schengen Visas:

All applicants must submit:

  1. Completed Schengen Visa Application Form

    • Signed and filled accurately.

  2. Valid Passport

    • Issued within the last 10 years.

    • At least 2 blank pages.

    • Valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended stay.

  3. Recent Passport-Size Photograph

    • Taken within the last 6 months, white background, Schengen standards.

  4. Travel Itinerary

    • Round-trip flight booking/reservation.

    • Planned dates and cities of travel.

  5. Proof of Accommodation

    • Hotel booking, Airbnb, or invitation from a host.

  6. Travel Insurance

    • Minimum €30,000 coverage.

    • Must cover the entire Schengen area and stay duration.

  7. Proof of Financial Means

    • Recent bank statements (last 3 months), sponsorship letter, or proof of income.

    • Sweden recommends around SEK 450 per day (~€40/day).

  8. Visa Fee Payment

    • Standard fee: €80 (adult), €40 (children 6–12), free for under 6s.

 

🎓 Student Visa (Short-Term – Less than 90 Days)

Additional documents:

  • Acceptance Letter from a Swedish educational institution.

  • Proof of Payment for tuition (if applicable).

  • Proof of Sufficient Funds for living expenses.

  • Accommodation Proof (student housing, host family, etc.).

  • No Objection Letter from current school/university (if applicable).

 

💼 Business Visa

Additional documents:

  • Invitation Letter from the Swedish company detailing:

    • Purpose of the visit

    • Duration and location of meetings

    • Who will cover expenses

  • Letter from Employer (in applicant’s home country):

    • Confirming job title, duration of employment, and reason for travel.

  • Business Documents (if applicable): trade licenses, registration certificates, etc.

🧳 Tourist / Visitor Visa

Additional documents:

  • Detailed Travel Plan / Tour Itinerary

  • If Visiting Friends/Family in Sweden:

    • Invitation Letter from host (may require approval from Swedish Migration Agency)

    • Copy of Host’s Passport or Residence Permit

  • Proof of Social/Economic Ties to home country (job, school, family, property)

    • To prove intent to return after visit.
